September finished

I have finished my block for the September BJP. It is in memory of my son who died from lung cancer on the 27th of Sept '05.
He loved to fish, in the lake, a pond or the ocean, as long as it had water and fish he didn't care. We go to Relay for Life, and his daughter Crystal lights the luminaire in his memory. She is really special to me.
I took the photo of him and sewed around the edge with no thread in the needle, to make the holes to sew on the seed beads. We loved to watch dragonflies skim the top of the water when we were fishing, so the dragonfly charm is for that. The fish buttons came from a trip to Big Lots and I think they were perfect for this project.
The photo of Crystal is next to the white pearls and ribbon which represent lung cancer. I put eighteen beads on the fish above the Hardees logo to represent the years he was employed there. Let me know what you think.

Betty, this is a wonderful tribute to your much loved son. Good for you. I did one for my son and daughter in November last year. I know it helped me remember the good times and forget the tough times.

This is a super page Betty. I am so glad you have Crystal. You put a lot of memories here. I hope it helped to ease the pain you must feel. It made me want to cry for him and you and Crystal and how unfair life can be. Thank goodness there are bright spots like grandchilren and memories.
